It is with a heavy heart that we share news regarding the passing of MTI member, Diane Brys. Diane had a long career as a Special Education Teacher. She started her career in Kettle Moraine and Waterloo, where she met several lifelong friends. After taking time off to start a family, Diane returned to teaching at Hawthorne Elementary, where she spent the remainder of her career. She was a caring and dedicated educator who touched many lives.

“MTI members: new, veteran, and already retired, collectively made their voices heard and took action for months to ensure this would get done,” MTI Executive Director Jeff Knight said in an email. “Experienced teachers form the backbone of every school; they mentor, they lead, and they provide perspective, and can now end their school year feeling some measure of value restored.”

The proposed changes would cost the district about $3.8 million to adjust salary compression for teachers whose pay does not adequately match the time they have spent working for the Madison School District. ⤵️ Find a link to the story in the comments.
