Meet your Group Leader: Sarah Strauss, LCSW, CAGCS

In addition to lived experience, Sarah has extensive knowledge and training in religious trauma, spiritual abuse, cult recovery, and the intersection of spirituality and mental health more broadly.

If you or someone you know has been impacted by religious trauma, we’d love to support them! This group is open to anyone 18+. The group kicks off next week Tuesday; we’ll see you there!

Healing from religious trauma is a journey that shouldn’t be walked alone. Join us for Bearing Witness, an intentional, six-week in-person support group designed to provide a safe space for processing and reconstruction.

• When: Tuesdays, Jan 20th – March 3rd
• Time: 6:00pm – 7:30pm
• Where: Modern Thrive Counseling | 4610 South Biltmore Lane #105, Madison, WI
• Investment: $60 per session
What to Expect
This group is limited to 8 members to ensure a small, intimate environment. Together, we will explore specific weekly topics, including:
• Understanding religious trauma
• Navigating shame and grief
• Identity reconstruction
• Spiritual abuse and cult recovery
About the Facilitator
The group is led by Sarah Strauss, LCSW, CAGCS. Sarah brings both lived experience and extensive professional training in religious trauma and spiritual abuse to every session.
