One year ago today, I published this memoir “What My Brother Knew”💙

My brother Jay died when I was 17.
He was 13. And in the year before his death, he told everyone who would listen — “I will die young, while riding my bike. It won’t be much longer.”

He was right. Down to the color of the car.

For 35 years, I carried that story. Through grief, addiction, silence, and a hundred unanswered questions. I didn’t know if putting it into words would break me — or finally set me free.

It did both.

What I didn’t expect was you. Readers who messaged me at midnight. People who’d lost someone and finally felt seen. Strangers who said Jay’s story changed how they think about death, about life, about what we can and can’t know.

One year later, his story is still traveling. And I am still in awe of that.
