Phil Lesh has been an inspiration to me my whole life. I was in attendance in the womb at Giants Stadium in 1994 to see the Grateful Dead thanks to my cool parents. Those low frequency bombs combined with masterful mid range melodic lines that never seem to be repeated have been rattling my cells since literally before I can remember. My first time seeing him with my own eyes was in 2009 at Convention Hall in Asbury Park with a band called Furthur. My first official “dead” show. The show opened with Box Of Rain. Phil’s voice echoing through that hallowed room “look out of any window…”. It set the tone for an obsession with that band during my high school years which coincided with Furthur’s short lived existence. Hearing that recording from that night makes me feel the same feeling I felt when I was 14 years old at that show with my dad. It’s a feeling I can’t explain but most dead heads probably know exactly what I’m talking about. I still chase it and cherish it to this day. Thank you Phil for that memory, so many others and for sharing your beauty with the world for all these years. A life well lived. Rest in peace and God bless Phil Lesh ❤️❤️❤️
