I'm not sure where all the stuff I've been putting up is going, but I'll try again. This is a good time to get to know your family again. Many people are home from work and/or school. If anyone in your family is having dry cough, fever over 100.4 , these are the symptoms that are different from colds, allergic reactions, standard flu. They need to be isolated, everything they coughed on, touched or otherwise contacted, needs to be wiped down with a high alcohol (>40%) and/or disinfectant solution. everyone in the house needs to be vigilant. This is a good time to be OCD.
For those of you with sick and/or senior family members and friends, they are particularly at risk. If they do not live with you, you might consider taking their groceries/needs to them, so they don't have to go to the store. I saw an incredible number of seniors at Kroger the other day. Here at the office, I am keeping patients away from each other with careful scheduling. For those who like to drop in. please stop in the parking lot and call if there is a car other than mine in the lot, BEFORE you come in. I am wiping down surfaces between patients, no matter how healthy you look or feel. The bathroom has been sanitized between each use as well. Even the pen and counter at the front desk has been attended to between each use. If you have questions about your health, I'll be happy to address them by phone. For those of you are not working or dealing with reduced income, I am here to help you. I do not let finances get in the way of your health.

Hearing Aids May Delay Cognitive Decline 03/04/2020

Is there someone you know who has hearing issues? A good friend of mine was a hearing aid specialist who told me that hearing loss happened at geometric rates. In other words, you don't lose 1 or 2 decibels of hearing sensitivity per year. The loss is more like 1 db the first year 2 the second 4 the next, 8 the next and so on. You can see that a little hearing loss can progress very quickly. If we are not using our hearing 'muscles' that part of the brain is not receiving stimulation and like any muscle, what is not used, becomes weaker. I have seen this progression in several patients over the years. When the brain is not stimulated by input, thoughts wander and get confused. Your balance works the same way, but I'll save that discussion for another day. Get your hearing tested. If there is a deficit, do something about it while you can. Less deficit can be offset by less expensive hearing aids.

Hearing Aids May Delay Cognitive Decline Wearing hearing aids may delay cognitive decline in older adults and improve brain function, according to promising new research.
