_Faces of the Dead, Lives of the Murdered: The Martyrs of 10 April 2010_ (คนที่ตายมีใบหน้า คนที่ถูกฆ่ามีชีวิต: วีรชน 10 เมษา), by Korakot Phiengjai, published by the Heroes of Democracy Foundation, and translated by Tyrell Haberkorn.
Between March and May 2010, democratic-populist red shirt activists in Thailand carried out an entrenched protest in the capital city. On 10 April 2010, a state crackdown to end the protests and clear the Bangkok streets began. Twenty-one people died that day. Over the next weeks, until 19 May 2010, the crackdown continued. In total, 94 people were killed and over 2000 injured. Years after these deaths, no one has been held to account.
_Faces of the Dead, Lives of the Murdered: The Martyrs of 10 April 2010_ is a collection of the testimonies of the lives of the twenty-one people killed on 10 April. A group of journalists and activists carried out interviews with their families in the weeks and months following the crackdown. Published in 2011 by the Heroes of Democracy Foundation, the book tells the stories of the lives, struggles, and dreams of those who were killed. The specificity of their lives is itself a clarion call for justice.
