The Oh Sh*t Kit Podcast
EPISODE 36 IS HERE! Exploring Race: A Dialogue with Charles Edward Payne, M, Ed.
We are so excited to welcome Charles Edward Payne to today’s episode where we dive into the topic of race to explore how we move forward in supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and creating real, long-term, lasting change.
Charles is a Certificate Educator and Advocate, and has a Masters of Education in Counseling. He is also a certified teacher, TEDx speaker and a fellow mental health warrior... as well as being a very talented performance poet (you can find his work on our website or on his page we tagged above!)
As two white people running a podcast, we were very conscious that it is our own personal responsibility to educate ourselves on the topic of race, and although that’s very much our mission, when Charles reached out to us to suggest we record this episode together, we jumped at the chance and are so grateful to have had the opportunity to speak with him.
In the episode, we discuss topics such as…
✨ The importance of dialogue and discussion within the white community.
✨ The importance of longevity, joy and support systems.
✨ Why the changes we see need to be rooted in the mind, body AND soul.
✨ How data can be triggering for the BIPOC community and why it’s also important to look past the numbers.
✨ Navigating in*******al relationships.
We have a huge list of resources curated by Charles for you to dive into so please head to our website at www.theohs**tkitpodcast.com/episode to check it out!
Let’s get to work!

🙏 Always. There is ALWAYS hope. Even when your brain tells you there isn't.
👉 Hope of recovery. Hope of finally finding the right therapist. Hope for that moment of relief when you realize you haven't thought about your mental health struggle all day for the first time in years.
🙌 There IS hope. Even when your brain tells you there isn't. Please share this with anyone you think might need to hear it. As we move through a very difficult time, it's so important to keep holding space for each other.
🙏 There is always HOPE. Even when your brain tells you there isn't.

🐾 Hi! My name is Jordie and I am Mandi and Leora's first pup. This was me back in the day when I weighed just 3lbs and my Mumma Leora really struggled with leaving me. Lockdown was the best wasn't it! So much time with the hoomans. I also just got a new big brother and given that he's had so much attention, I thought I would sneak in and say heyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!
I know my Mumma is bringing you some podcast goodness all about puppies this week, but I'm a pup who has no idea how to send you to listen to that...
..I am ALWAYS down for new friends though, and would love to see your own puppy photos. Share them with me in the comments??

GUYS. Our podcast this week is all about getting a puppy. Yas we all know that the cuddles, Insta pics and overall doggy Mama life is the BEST.
And we also know that the adjustment can be really, really tough. There's no shame in finding puppy life hard. Whether that's the lack of sleep, the destroying of your fave cozy slippers or just the general overstimulation if you're not used to puppy energy.
On lockdown, pups were getting adopted left, right and center and we wanted to provide you with an episode that talked you through what you can do to make that initial adjustment feel just that little bit easier.
