Hello Friends of Palestine,

Please consider joining members of Mennonite Action Madison by participating in a vigil bearing witness to the plight of the people of Gaza and Palestine on Saturday, July 4th at the Capitol Square farmers' market.

The vigil event will involve 200+ pairs of shoes (many of them are children's shoes) laid out on the walkway leading up to the State Capitol from the square. This stunning visual representing the more than 75,000 people of Gaza who have been killed by Israeli forces in the past 2 1/2 years, garners a lot of attention from shoppers at the farmers' market. In addition to the shoe exhibit, we will be present with signs showing support for the people of Gaza and will engage with passers-by.

The vigil event will be 8:00 - 11:00 am on Saturday, July 4th at the King Street corner of the Capitol Square.

Here are some ways you could participate:
Help set up the shoe exhibit at 7:30 am
Show up in solidarity and engage with passers-by, as you feel led
Show up and hold a sign showing your support
Help clean up the shoe exhibit from 10:30 - 11:00 am

From Linda Sarsour and the team at MPower Action...

We are elated by Salah’s release! We thank all our partners who have worked tirelessly for this moment, and every single one of you who took action for his freedom.

When we raise our voices together, we are a force to be reckoned with, and today proves once again that collective action is how we fight and protect one another.

As we gather to celebrate Salah’s immediate release, we also want to remind everyone that Salah Sarsour is out of ICE detention, but not permanently free.

Salah still faces an immigration hearing next Wednesday, June 24th, and so we invite you to attend our MPower Hour that day. Together, we will take the most strategic actions to keep the pressure on and to ensure that Salah’s freedom today is permanent.

RSVP for the MPower Hour on June 24, 3 pm ET.

I hope to see you there!

Thank you for everything you do.

In solidarity,
Linda Sarsour and the team at MPower Action
