Next up is my nature section. Nature “uses” things just like humans do, but the cool thing is how one item can be useful to multiple plants and animals. For example, the big oak leaf I drew collected sunlight for the tree, helped provided shade to the ground and cover for wildlife, and was a source of food and breeding location for various insects. Once it fell to the ground in the fall, it would become mulch for the tree, help provide shelter for overwintering insects and critters, and would ultimately decompose and add nutrients back to the soil. I loved drawing this particular leaf with all the different sized holes in it :). Other art in this section include other leaves, a leaf skeleton from an actual leaf, feathers, the shell of a dragonfly, bees, and a necklace made of my dog’s whiskers!
