Happy Juneteenth, everyone!
Today we honor June 19, 1865, the day the last enslaved Black Americans were finally told they were free, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Do you know the symbolism behind the Juneteenth flag?
--> The star represents Texas, the state where the announcement happened.
--> The bursting outline represents a new beginning for all
--> The curve underneath the star and outline represents a new horizon of opportunities and promise that lay ahead for Black Americans.
--> The red, white, and blue serve as a powerful reminder that formerly enslaved people and their descendants have always been, and will always be, Americans.
As Fannie Lou Hamer said, "Nobody's free until everybody's free." Today is a chance for all of us to reflect on that and celebrate our shared journey toward true liberty.

The latest issue of The Mableton Common has officially hit inboxes! 📬
We have a lot to unpack this week. I’m diving deep into Monday’s Public Safety Town Hall to break down the end of "City Lite" and the tough questions Mableton needs to face as we plan our future together. It’s a big conversation, and it’s one we need to have.
On a lighter note, I’m also sharing a highlight of the wonderful time I had at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre family movie series this past week. It was such a great event for our community! Plus, we’ve got our Pet of the Week, a new Neighbors in Action spotlight, and all your usual local updates.
