Mauch Art Studio was created to be a place where creativity, learning, and hands-on exploration come together for all ages, from 5 to 99!

Our classes, workshops, camps, and events are designed as structured educational enrichment programs focused on art, STEM, theatre, writing, science, and creative skill development. Each program includes guided instruction, project-based learning, and thoughtfully planned activities designed to encourage creativity, confidence, and critical thinking.

While our programs are fun and engaging, they are intentionally built around learning, artistic growth, and meaningful hands-on experiences in a supportive studio environment.

Whether you’re joining us for a children’s camp, a teen studio course, or an adult workshop, our goal is to create a welcoming space where students of all ages can learn new skills, explore creativity, and enjoy the process of making and discovering.

Thank you for supporting local arts and educational programming here in Lubbock!

🐾 Animal Day Recap - Last day of spring break camp was SO fun! Thank you all so much for joining us!

Yesterday was animal day and I surprised the kids by bringing my dog, Peanut!

In the morning, we learned how animal characteristics help them survive. We tested this with a “blubber” experiment to see how animals stay warm in cold environments, this was a HUGE hit!
We also built animal habitats with marshmallows and toothpicks, had free play, did puzzles, and even built Peanut a little house out of Legos. (We also attempted one art project that flopped but we rolled with it and had fun anyway 😂)

In the afternoon art camp, we learned about the color wheel (primary + secondary colors), then talked about color value while painting ocean scenes. We learned about silhouettes and made those out of paper to glue onto our ocean paintings. We finished by making 3D octopus crafts, learning animal origami and playing vet in dramatic play.

🦖 Dino Day Recap - Spring Break Camp Day 4

In the morning we learned about paleontologists and got to dig like real scientists! Campers explored a sensory station with bones, shells, and fossils in the sand, then measured and looked at their finds under a microscope.

We also built dinosaur habitats, read stories, and did STEM challenges, including designing a vessel to keep a dino safe (they loved testing these!).

In the afternoon art camp, we kept the dino fun going, painting cracking dino eggs, sculpting with clay, and building dinosaur skeletons using pasta shells on black paper.

Such a busy, fun day I totally forgot to post 😂

Homemade Dino eggs going in the oven for camp tomorrow! 🦕

Here’s the recipe:
1 cup used coffee grounds
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1/4 cup sand (optional)
1/2 to 3/4 cup water to form a moldable dough

Shape dough around mini plastic dinosaurs, then bake at 200°F–225°F for 70–90 minutes to harden 🦖

Our little archeologists will get these in the morning. 🤎

🚀 Spring Break Camp: Space Day Recap 🌙

This morning in science camp we learned about astronauts and how they travel in space. Campers built vessels to keep their astronauts safe during a drop challenge (they got SO into this!).
We also did a balloon rocket experiment...when the air rushes out, it pushes the balloon forward like a real rocket. Huge hit! We learned the phases of the moon with Oreos, built constellations with marshmallows and toothpicks, and finished with space shuttle window art.

In the afternoon art camp, we made moon prints and talked about how craters are formed, then designed rockets to land on our moons. We also decorated life-size spacesuits (another favorite!). We talked about fiction vs. nonfiction and created our own planets, building homes for our families to inhabit these new planets using marshmallows and toothpicks. And of course… we had to bring back the balloon rockets because the morning kids wouldn’t stop talking about them.
Such a fun day!! 🚀✨

Tomorrow is Dino day! We have a few spots left open if you'd like to join! : https://www.mauchartstudio.com/event-details/spring-break-camp
