Yesterday, Texas Tech broke ground on the Critical Infrastructure Security Site at the Reese National Security Complex. This new facility will advance research, innovation, and collaboration in national security and critical infrastructure protection.

"This research site strengthens our ability to protect the systems our nation, state, and community depend on every day and delivers solutions that address evolving threats to infrastructure security,” said Dr. Stephen Bayne, executive director of CISI and vice president for national security.

Brenda Connor, Ph.D., spoke at the Critical Infrastructure Protection & Resilience North America conference to discuss how cellular networks can enhance critical infrastructure security while improving operational efficiency across essential systems.

Her presentation highlighted how mobile systems help maintain connectivity and strengthen communications across critical sectors.

The institute is looking for a motivated undergraduate student to join our research team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving field of Operational Technology (OT) security, where cybersecurity meets the physical world.

Yesterday, we welcomed Chancellor Brandon Creighton to the Critical Infrastructure Security Institute to discuss our mission and highlight the ongoing work across our research efforts, partnerships, and national security initiatives. We appreciated the opportunity to showcase the continued progress and impact of our team’s work.

Representatives from the U.S. Army DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory and West Point recently visited Texas Tech to learn more about the university’s role in power grid, cyber defense, telecom, EMP and high-energy research.

The visit highlighted the role of Texas Tech’s National Security office related to cybersecurity, directed energy and cyber-physical systems.

Developed by the Texas Department of Information Resources and GLEAMM, this cybersecurity course provides training to help safeguard the Texas electrical grid against evolving threats and secure critical infrastructure systems.
