Strong leadership means standing with local businesses when it matters most, and Chad Seay did exactly that during one of the most difficult times our community has faced.
During the COVID shutdowns, when many small businesses were forced to close or drastically reduce operations, Chad worked to ensure ARPA funds were used to support Lubbock’s local economy. Through that effort, more than 10 million dollars was directed to local Lubbock County businesses and nonprofit organizations, at no cost to taxpayers.

According to the Lubbock County State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds 2024 Report, over $10.4 million has been distributed to 251 small businesses and 47 nonprofit organizations, helping keep doors open, employees working, and essential services available when they were needed most.

Strong infrastructure planning means knowing which projects matter most to the people who use them every day, and Chad Seay made South Indiana a priority.

While serving on the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Chad helped oversee hundreds of millions of dollars in state, federal, and local transportation funding. Through steady advocacy and informed decision-making, he worked to bring $16 million in road funding back to Lubbock County.

A key part of that success was securing $2 million for South Indiana, improving a vital corridor used daily by families, businesses, and emergency services. Additional funding included $2 million for West 50th Street, with remaining funds advancing the Woodrow Road project.

By focusing on high-impact projects like South Indiana, Chad helped improve safety, support growth, and ensure Lubbock County received its fair share of transportation dollars.

Real leadership comes from showing pride in the community you serve, and Chad Seay believes that every detail matters. During his previous time in office, when Chad drove the county roads in Precinct 4, he didn’t just inspect them; he took responsibility for them. He picked up any trash he could carry, and for larger debris, he compiled what he could and personally contacted the county to ensure it was removed quickly.

Chad understands that clean, well-maintained roads reflect respect for taxpayers and pride in Lubbock County. It is the kind of hands-on commitment that shows he never asks others to do what he is not willing to do himself.

From the two cats who rule the house, Varo and Valentine, to the backhoe rides with his loyal copilot Sugar Cane, Chad’s love for his animals runs deep. They are his companions, his constant shadows, and often the first to remind him that good days begin and end with kindness.

Whether he is caring for his own animals or stopping to help a stray along a county road, Chad’s respect for all creatures reflects the same values he brings to public service: patience, responsibility, and a genuine heart for those who depend on us.
