The Lubbock Lake Landmark will be celebrating the final day of Archaeology Days, tomorrow, Saturday, July 18. Tours begin at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., and they take visitors to the Quaternary Research Laboratory and the excavation site, which this field season focuses on a site with artifacts from the Apache time period and the Singer Store, the first mercantile store in this area. Visitors are encouraged to speak with our researchers at both the laboratory and the excavation site. A Tewa-Hopi storyteller, Eldrena Douma, will discuss Native traditions. A Tewa-Hopi potter, Darlene James, will build, paint, and fire her artistic ceramic pieces, and visitors can learn from her techniques. Children's activities include excavating a replica site.
