The grand opening of the G.V. Daniels and Cesar Chavez Recreation Centers mark a major milestone for Abilene, Texas, expanding access to new recreational opportunities across the community.

Built to replace two aging facilities, these centers give Abilene residents something they truly deserve: modern, accessible spaces where kids can play, seniors can gather, families can stay active, and the whole community can grow together.

From the early stages of pre-design through construction, Parkhill worked closely with the City of Abilene to ensure every decision — from the layout of the fitness areas to the flexibility of the classrooms and community spaces — reflected the real needs of the people who will use them every day.

University of Parkhill 2026 brought our people together to pursue continuing education, learn from one another, and celebrate professional excellence. This year’s event was filled with insightful sessions, meaningful recognition, and a reminder that Building Community isn’t just part of what we do at work; it’s who we are!
