The difference in traction between bias to radial tractor tires is that radial tires have a larger footprint than bias type tires and therefore provide more grip. The radial benefits may not always be needed – such as for tractors used for light or non-tillage applications (pulling wagons, hauling bales).

One of the disadvantages of electric forklifts is that their batteries are especially heavy. To help counter this, install tires made from polyurethane. Categorized as "press-on" tires, they can support the additional weight of the batteries.

While polyurethane industrial tires provide excellent traction, they are only suitable for use indoors. These simple tires are designed to be pressed onto the wheel of the machine, making them very easy to install.

While both pneumatic and solid tires have their pros and cons when used in the proper environment, pneumatic tires can help extend the service life of your equipment. When conditions allow you the option of either, pneumatic might be the better choice.

Does tractor type play a role in my tire choice? Absolutely! In fact, 2WD, MFWD, and 4WD tractors have significant differences in the ways they are used, how hard they are worked, and where and when (such as row crop versus open field applications) that determine tire needs.

While other tires (such as agricultural tires) might be used on softer surfaces like soil, industrial tires spend their time on hard surfaces like asphalt or concrete. These are specially made out of harder rubber to stand up to heavy use on hard surfaces.
