Mile High Note Game Calls

Congrats to our friend and Prostaffer Jeffrey DeVaul on a great bull during 2nd rifle season! Jeff called in several bulls and connected on a great herd bull! Calling works! Yes even during rifle seasons! Way to go buddy!

So grateful — my family will be eating elk all year! 🙏 Blessed beyond words to tag two bulls this season. Went on an OTC elk hunt with my niece and brother-in-law and we were able to drop two bulls on day 2 of second rifle! Packed one out in the morning, then pushed deep into the mountains and sealed the deal on another that evening. We packed out one full bull and half of the second on our backs and can back on horses to pick up the two front quarters and the head! @kifaru_intl your packs are AMAZING!! Henry tells his story below!

After 30 years of hunting together, my brother and I finally lived out the hunt of a lifetime — harvesting our biggest bull to date.

We pulled this massive herd bull away from over 20 cows and 6 other bulls, something that felt nearly impossible. We were out there for 8 days, and the first 4 were pure madness — nonstop rain, mud, lightning, hail, and wind. It was incredible. While everyone watched the massive flooding happening across the Southwest, we were deep in the mountains, enduring every second of it. During those stormy days, we only saw maybe 2 or 3 other trucks the entire time.

Throughout the hunt, bulls were bugling day and night, echoing through the ridgetops — it was pure amazement, a sound that will stay with us forever. We first spotted this bull on day one, lost him until the night before the hunt opened, and then found him again opening morning. At about 375 yards down a monster ridge, my suppressed Christensen Arms 6.5 PRC rifle, topped with a Leupold scope perfectly ballistic-matched to my ammo, achieved the shot flawlessly. I was using the KAHUNA- Legends of the Fall elk call, which performed beautifully. Everything just worked out perfectly, almost like it was meant to be.

We hiked down to the bull, handled him, hung him overnight, and packed him out through some of the nastiest oak brush Colorado has to offer — about a 2.5-mile round trip that tested every ounce of grit we had. The mass and beauty of this bull are beyond words.

I’m beyond thankful and deeply respectful for this animal — his meat will not go to waste and will feed my family for a long time.

This hunt was life-changing — a true “bull of a lifetime.” I’m forever grateful to share it with my brother and to experience the beauty, challenge, and raw power of the mountains once again. We are truly thankful — for the hunt, the memories, the opportunity, and the gift of being outdoorsmen.
