Here is the dirtiest, driest, brittle saddle that I have worked on to date. Black water with each spongfull. But it wanted to be beautiful again! I made matching latigo straps to hold the skirts to the tree, concho's to match and more.
It was the owners Grandmother or Great Grandmother's saddle that they found in the family barn. It's a C.P.Shipley maker, from Kansas City, MO. The company was started in the late 1880's and closed in 1972. This saddle is stamped number 17, and so are the metal stirrups stamped 17. This saddle is no longer a working rig but a display only, which is what they wanted to do. I hope you enjoy the history and beauty. Kim Andrews

Kim enjoys doing saddle repair and restoration. A couple came to me with their saddles that needed help. They are both made by Bob Marshall, one is a treeless saddle and the other treed. After looking over the treeless saddle. It was beyond my capabilities. After talking to Sportsaddle.com, a very nice gentleman. We decided to send the treeless to them for the repairs of the girthing and fender strap repair. They went above to make this saddle safe and comfortable. I worked on the treed saddle. Here are the before and after pictures. I hope you can tell the difference.

Moonlight and Meagan in the first picture, Prince and Shiloh in the second picture. The horses are related. Prince the Grandsire to Moonlight. Meagan and Shiloh enjoy their lessons on these two. They are so nice to ride and learn from.
