Gelato Gilberto

Tuesday June 2nd was the official 20th anniversary of the day Gelato Gilberto opened its doors. 🥳🥳🥳 We had a temporary store at The Summit (now the Paddock Shops) for the summer and would open our permanent store the following year in Norton Commons. The first flavor we served was Amarena— sweet cream with dark cherries. Rosie was seven and Lily was two and we spent our 10th wedding anniversary that July working although we did throw a big party called A Festival of Love and Gelato at the store that night. We had a fantastic staff and wonderful customers many of who we keep in touch with to this day. We didn’t have smartphones so there are almost no pictures but I do have these few 🤗 (The one of the four of us is actually from the next year in Norton Commons and was taken by Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Jack Luster ). We spent Tuesday together as a family revisiting our old location which is now where we got some delicious dessert! Thank you, Louisville—it has been a such a privilege to watch our family and our business grow and flourish in this community ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
