🦠EBOLA RESPONSE UPDATE:

In partnership with IsraAID and Congo Connect and Thrive, WaterStep is shipping another 100 BleachMakers to join the fight against Ebola in DRC.

Teams on the ground have been busy manufacturing bleach and training other groups to make their own in Mwongbwalu.

Currently, we have installed 170 handwashing stations at clinics, schools and in public spaces.

Over the coming days we will be training IsraAID teams and distributing these additional BleachMakers where they are needed most.

Thank you to our partners and supporters that make this work possible. We are currently working with partners in Colombia and making plans to send equipment to aid in the Venezuela earthquake response.

🦠Ebola Response Update:

In case you missed the reports by news stations, we wanted to share some scenes and updates from yesterday’s press conference.

On the ground in the heart of the outbreak, we have:

🫧 Mobilized and increased production of disinfectant using 50+ BleachMakers we had in the region.

👏 Set up 120 handwashing stations in public spaces, schools and clinics utilizing a diluted mix of our BleachMaker’s solution.

📈Worked with local partner Congo Connect and Thrive to set up a new bleach manufacturing hub in Bunia, the epicenter of the outbreak.

🤝 We have activated field consultants along the route between DRC and Nairobi where many are being evacuated. At sites with BleachMakers on this route, production is being increased for community use and Ebola education
and awareness is being disseminated.

✨ What’s next?
We have pallets of additional BleachMakers ready to ship to partners across the region. With support, we hope to arm more groups and facilities with BleachMakers in DRC and Uganda.

🗣️ Soon we will also be airing PSAs and Ebola education programming in the Congo, bolstering our disinfectant efforts on the ground.
