PARENTS AND TWO YOUNG CHILDREN AMONG 5 KILLED AFTER CHARTER BUS PLOWED INTO TRAFFIC ON I-95

A devastating crash on Interstate 95 in Stafford County, Virginia, claimed the lives of five people Friday morning, including an entire Massachusetts family traveling to a wedding.

Authorities identified the victims as 45-year-old Dmitri Doncev, 44-year-old Ecaterina Doncev, their 13-year-old daughter Emily, and 7-year-old son Mark. Family members say the family was headed to South Carolina for a wedding celebration and had packed homemade desserts for the trip before tragedy struck.

Officials say 25-year-old Priscilla Mafalda of Worcester, Massachusetts, was also killed in the violent chain-reaction crash.

Investigators say a southbound charter bus failed to slow for backed-up traffic near a construction zone around 2:35 a.m., slamming into multiple vehicles on I-95 near Quantico. Authorities say the Doncev family’s vehicle caught fire after impact, killing all four occupants inside.

The crash injured dozens of other passengers, several critically, as emergency crews responded to a chaotic scene involving mangled vehicles and fire stretching across the interstate.

Virginia State Police have charged bus driver Jing S. D**g, 48, of Staten Island, New York, with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.

Federal investigators say preliminary evidence suggests the bus was traveling at a high rate of speed with little evidence of braking before impact.
