What wakes you up before the alarm? 🕰️✨
We all make sacrifices. We all pull the late nights, drink the cold coffee, and push our bodies to the limit. But have you ever stopped to ask: Is your "why" coming from inside your heart, or from the world outside your door?
There is a world of difference between the person chasing a trophy and the person chasing a dream.
The Gold Medal vs. The Inner Fire 🏆🔥
Most of us are raised on Extrinsic Motivation.
It’s the grade on the paper, the digit in the bank account, the "likes" on this post, or the title on the business card. It’s a powerful fuel, but it’s like a paper fire—it burns bright and hot, but it leaves you cold the moment the wind blows. When the reward disappears, so does the drive.
Then, there is Intrinsic Motivation.
This is the sacrifice that nobody sees and nobody needs to applaud. It’s the student who studies until 3 AM not just for the A+, but because they are hungry to understand the world. It’s the parent working a double shift not for the paycheck, but because the look on their child’s face is a reward no bank can hold.
Extrinsic asks: "What will I get?" > Intrinsic asks: "Who am I becoming?"
The Toll of the "Why"
Extrinsic is a heavy backpack. You carry it because you have to reach the finish line to put it down. It leads to burnout, comparison, and the feeling that you are "never enough."
Intrinsic is a heartbeat. It’s the energy that sustains you when you’re tired, because the act of doing the work is the prize.
Which one are you fueled by today?
Are you running toward a prize, or are you running because you love the feel of the wind? One will give you success; the other will give you peace.
Drop a "❤️" if you’re building a life fueled by passion, not just points.
