Always know where your player is today.

One of the most important things in sporting environments is you always have to be thinking about the context of where you are.

Where is that player today? What’s happened to him?

Sir Alex Ferguson built a training center and made sure his office overlooked the car park.

He’d stand there with a cup of tea, watching players arrive.

If he saw a player restless, on the phone, something going on, he’d go down and talk to him.

How are you, mate? Is there anything I can help you with today?

Context matters. What’s happening in their life directly impacts performance.

The best leaders notice and care enough to ask.

Happiness isn’t about more stuff.

Our world is collapsing because people keep buying more stuff to get more stuff in their bank account.

But research is clear: once you have minimal income, your happiness is not determined by your income.

People aren’t given the art of this because it’s all transactional.

But belonging without losing yourself, that’s where happiness lives.
