Full Medi-Cal Dental benefits for some Medi-Cal beneficiaries age 19+ were previously expected to change on July 1, 2026, but the change has now been delayed to July 1, 2027.
This means all Medi-Cal recipients will continue to receive full dental benefits through June 30, 2027. Then starting July 1, 2027, some adult beneficiaries who do not qualify for federally funded full-scope Medi-Cal because of their immigration status may only have emergency dental services covered.
Not everyone is affected. The July 1, 2027 change does not apply to beneficiaries who qualify for federally funded full-scope Medi-Cal, children under age 19, people who are pregnant or within 1 year postpartum, or eligible foster/former foster youth under age 26. They will continue to receive full Medi-Cal Dental benefits.

This Independence Day, we invite you to see Asian America reflected in the story of this country. In collaboration with the Japanese American National Museum (JANM), we present Asian America the Beautiful, a multi-night outdoor projection celebrating AAPI immigrant stories across generations. The projection began on July 2 and will continue through July 5, running each night from sunset to sunrise on the exterior of JANM in Little Tokyo.
The projection features personal photographs shared with AJSOCAL by community members, partners, legislators, and leaders. The images celebrate ancestral and immigrant stories across generations: family celebrations, community gatherings, and everyday scenes. All of which honor the rich, layered, and deeply American stories of our AAPI communities.
