A treasure hunter brings the largest emerald on Earth to the people who buy gems for a living. One says the color is wrong. The next one says it’s too big. Neither has ever seen anything like it, and that, somehow, is the problem.
The Last Emerald is a modern fable about creativity, conformity, and the cost of reshaping the rare to please those who can’t see its worth.
After more than two decades and 21 features, this is my first short film. It originally appeared as a short story in my book Filmmaking Confidential.
