Join the Glendale Library and Arts Culture, Grandview Branch for a self-portrait workshop to celebrate the Día del Niño (Kid's Day) and honor the Latino culture of Glendale. This workshop will be taught by Abby Aceves.

Aurora Arevalo (Glendale Library, Arts & Culture), is the recipient of the 2026 REFORMA LA Día Mini-Grant!

According to the Association for Library Services to Children (ALSC), El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day)—known as Día—is a celebration of children, families, and reading that culminates every year on April 30. Día emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Just a friendly reminder and warm encouragement to join us this Friday, April 17, from 6:00–8:00 PM at BLVD MRKT in Montebello!

We'll be using the inside space, near the bar, and there are a few different food options for different palates. We'll conduct chapter business, award our 2026 scholarships, and chat about April's Mentorship Moment: Public Speaking. We look forward to seeing you!

Her proposal, “Self-Portrait Workshop with artist Abby Aceves,” celebrates creativity, identity, and community.

This $500 grant supports programs that promote literacy and celebrate Latino culture as part of Día (Children’s Day/Book Day), culminating on April 30.
