Coronado printstudio (Coronado printstudio) is a space based in Austin, TX where artists can eliminate barriers and engage in open dialogues around history, identity and important issues of our time. Rooted in the philosophy that printing, by nature, is a collaborative medium, the studio believes that voices and stories are most powerful when seen and heard collectively. Founded in 2006, their mission stems from the importance of providing a space for productive discussions on art and its role in contemporary American culture with an emphasis on a diverse American experience and identity. 

Coronado printstudio is one of the six peer print organizations featured in 𝘼𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖 𝙏𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮: 𝙑𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙩, an exhibition on view at The Print Center (The Print Center) in Philadelphia from April 24, 206 to July 25, 2026!

Learn how to make a knotted rug weaving with yarn and upcycled textiles! ✂️🧵 This workshop, facilitated by artist Aneesa Shami Zizzo, is inspired by the long history of rug making in many cultures, specifically in the Southwest Asia, North Africa, and Arab regions. 

Focusing on techniques like modified larks head knotting, plain weaving, and winding yarn balls, participants will learn the basics of weaving by playing with different fibers, color, and texture to create a small rug. 𖢋𖢋𖢋

All levels of experience are welcome and all materials will be provided.✨

The fire at the Lineage Logistics cold storage warehouse, which began on June 17 on the solar-panel rooftop of the 500,000-square-foot Boyle Heights facility, is still burning. This incident reflects a long legacy of environmental racism, as the facility uses highly toxic chemicals near working-class Latine residential neighborhoods. It also underscores how environmental disasters ignore borders & zoning laws; the wind has been carrying toxic smoke beyond Boyle Heights and East LA into other parts of LA and the San Gabriel Valley. 🌎

Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency this past Saturday as the air quality worsened. Living through this smoke has been harmful for many, with health impacts ranging from headaches & breathing issues to long-term risks that have yet to be determined.

As the fire continues, community needs include air purifiers, masks, relocation support, a transparent investigation, & corporate accountability. Despite this tragedy, the community response to the Boyle Heights fire has been resilient & inspiring! 💚💚💚 Comminity members have come together, providing resources and information to those most vulnerable. 🫶🏾
