A year ago, Juan chose our family through World Vision’s Chosen program, and today I still think about him and pray for him.

He lives in El Salvador. And through World Vision’s Chosen program, he chose our family before we ever even met him.

That is what makes Chosen so beautiful. Children living in extreme poverty walk through a room full of photos and names of families wanting to sponsor a child. And each child gets the chance to point to a family and say, “I choose them.” Nobody leaves that room unchosen.

When we finally met Juan face to face, we spent time laughing together and getting to know one another. It was such a meaningful moment for me and Caleb and one we will never forget.

Now we write letters back and forth. His photo sits in our prayer book. We pray for him often.

World Vision is a global Christian humanitarian organization that has spent 75 years working alongside children, families, and communities to help them reach their full God-given potential. Sponsorship helps provide things like clean water, healthcare, and education. But what Chosen gives is even deeper than that.

It gives children dignity. Voice. Love. Connection. And the beautiful reminder that they are seen.

This whole experience has been one of the most meaningful gifts to our family. 🤍
