Fierce Embodiment

I ADDED A FREE WEBINAR - tomorrow - Undoing the habit of self-doubt.

I started surfing 2 years ago. It was a longing I’d buried so deep, that I almost didn’t know it was mine, when it came bubbling open.

I’m not a natural. For the first year and a half, I’d be full of self-doubt, stress and “what in the world are you doing?” Almost talking myself out of it. But I kept getting in the water.

I got tossed and turned. Sucked under. Swirled around. But over time, the self-doubt melted away. My chest opened, breath flowed, and arms paddled hard. All focused on catching a wave.

I no longer spend half my energy battling the doubt. I just strap the board on my car and go.

I’m still not a natural, but I love it more than I can express.

Self-doubt, shame, feeling like we don’t belong...all contract our spirit. And all can be undone in our bodies.

I’ve read this quote over and over again, and the way it lands in me changes. I love the question, but I’m not 100% convinced by the answer.

My take is that when a woman tells her story, with every cell of her being, and opens herself up, the world grows richer.(and maybe that’s what was originally meant in the quote)

Your body holds your past, present, and future. It’s amazing when you think of it, really. That YOU are part of your future as you move simply into your day, make coffee, kiss a loved one, speak to a friend.

By willingly telling our stories, through the body, energy opens. We touch, taste and remember the parts of ourselves that got stuck. We rediscover our resourcefulness.

It’s in the telling and opening that we come back to our nature. And perhaps the world does split open then, with more beauty, generosity and vibrancy.

When we reveal the hidden, we settle into who we are.
