CORE and our partner the Wayuu Taya Foundation delivered drinking water to displacement camps around La Guaira, including this one on a baseball field in Playa Grande, where dozens of families are doing their best to cope with their new reality.

After the earthquakes, thousands of families in Venezuela are sheltering in tents on fields and open streets, exposed to the elements, and unsure where to go next. In talking with them, our teams are learning that many either lost their homes entirely or are scared to return to damaged structures that may not be inhabitable after so many aftershocks.

With your help, we can keep delivering relief items and start finding ways to help families get back home safely.

The twin earthquakes in Venezuela have left countless families with nowhere safe to go. Right now, they’re doing everything they can to protect the people they love – sheltering in informal camps, makeshift tents, even a postal facility turned shelter. Together with our teammates from Wayuu Taya, we're using every connection we have to find these families and get them what they need most.

So far, we've reached 3,300 people with vital resources, including shelf stable food, hygiene supplies like toothbrushes and toothpaste, insect repellent, and drinking water. In the days ahead, our teams will keep pushing to reach more families, because for so many, these essentials are a lifeline and a glimpse of hope to get them through another night.

We’re making significant headway at our sites in Turmero and Morón. Our operators have already cleared another 1,000 metric tons of debris, bringing our total to 2,400 metric tons cleared – the equivalent of about 200 dump truck loads of concrete blocks.

This work requires precision and expertise, especially at the search and recovery site. Every piece of concrete cleared is a visible sign of progress. The teams from CORE and Wayuu Taya are so grateful to the operators doing this critical work, and to the community leaders and local government for allowing us to show up for their friends, families, and neighbors in this difficult time.

When we say disaster recovery takes a village, this is what we mean. Our team is with dozens of local volunteers in Maracaibo packaging more than 1,000 kits filled with food, clean water, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and other essentials – all headed straight to communities hit hardest by the recent earthquakes.

This is what your support looks like in action. Click the link in our bio so we can keep showing up for Venezuela.
