ICE is quietly deporting families at an alarming rate, thousands in recent days, as we marked our nation’s 250th year.
Last week we launched the National Creative Assembly: 51 artists, one from every state plus Washington, DC. Here are the first 14 artworks — translated into Spanish, the country’s second most spoken language.
Together, we’re picking up the democracy we inherited and mapping what comes next: a country where immigrants are celebrated as its foundation.
This moment is calling us to bear witness, to hold the vision of what’s possible if we all show up for a more compassionate world.
For us this means staying present, even in the face of immense horrors and grief. If you see ICE, document it. Share it. Call your local rapid response hotline. This is how we hold onto our humanity: through collective care.
Human life is sacred. Family unity is sacred. Children are sacred. No exceptions, no borders.

What we see or don’t see in our public spaces matters and freedom without repair is incomplete. The wounds of slavery, segregation, and systemic exclusion did not heal on their own. Economic justice is not a gift. It is what is owed.
