Ricky Montgomery

Montgomery Ricky (Plus 3) is OUT NOW. 10 years ago today, I released my debut album after years of grinding in St. Louis and then growing an audience on Vine. These 3 songs were each considered for that debut album but didn’t make the cut at the time. I’m very happy to say that they are now out in the world where they belong. Here are some photos to mark the occasion, some of them are from 10 years ago and some aren’t.

A bit about each song:
Oh My My — the original version of Line Without a Hook, an ode to Missouri and the challenges one faces when trying to live a creative life in a smaller town.

Some Kind of Man — a song I didn’t have the courage to finish at the time of Montgomery Ricky. The chorus is the same as it was in 2016, but I decided to rewrite the verses and the bridge for this new EP. The song was once about hating my stepdad, but took on a deeper meaning when I rediscovered it. I found myself realizing struggles I had with gender dysphoria that I was not yet aware of at the time of the first album’s release. It felt good to be able to bring those ideas into a clearer vision on this EP.

Object of Desire — an old soundcloud fan favorite, and one I am very happy to say is finally out in the world. Thanks for your patience on this one!

I love you all, thanks for an amazing 10 years. Here’s to the next one.
