Trina here, I am slowly reading through Suffering is Never for Nothing by Elizabeth Elliot. It’s not an easy read, it’s not light Summer reading. Nobody wants to hear that the way to a deeper walk Jesus is often a path marked with pain, nobody wants that, many of us might say ‘I am ok thanks.’. But there is a truth to these words that runs deep. There is still a richness and sweetness in the darkness of that path. What I admire so far is Elliot is not out to give trite answers. No, she says if you look at the world and the pain so many live through and experience it’s really very difficult, on account of all that to believe in a God out there who is loving and good, I would say it’s almost impossible. The only way we can keep believing in God being who He says He is, is by faith and on account of His Word the Bible. So here is to plodding along when the answers are not there. To looking for God and the glimpses of Him in the deepest waters and hottest fires. He can be found there, more than that, He wants to be found by us there.

With all that is happening in your own life or in the hurting world around you, can you relate? Do you need a divine hug? Aren penned those words in his journal in one of the darkest season we walked through. This quote is a small snippet of what we will be sharing at out A Call to Remain conference tomorrow in La Cresenta. There is still time to sign up this evening. We are thankful to God for this opportunity to share with you with hope and vulnerability. Please join us at tomorrow morning. Link to sign up for this free conference is in our bio .

It’s Holy Week… we remember Jesus and the road He walked on his way to the cross for us. He who had (and still has) all the strength in the universe said yes to emptying Himself of His majesty, for us. He was insulted, vilified, spat upon, pinched, chased and as one without strength for us. If this was the reception our Savior received here, why do we long for and seek acclaim. Like master, like servant. Paul takes pleasure in his weakness, it is his becoming more like Christ. It’s beautiful and it’s what this world needs.
