“Coming into UCLA as a STEM major, I can say this Cluster reoriented my perspective on the social sciences. It gave me the opportunity to explore interesting and unexpected topics, from the history of East African mosque architecture to the accommodation of Muslim Marriage Practices by US law, and discuss these topics with a tight-knit group of students and professors. My experiences engaging in my own research also taught me skills that I know will stay with me throughout my academic endeavors.
