Summer break can be a time to slow down, have fun, and enjoy a different rhythm.

But for students in Joint Youth Ministry from San Jose, summer also became a chance to serve.

For two days, they stepped beyond their familiar surroundings and into our mission — preparing and serving lunch to our guests and neighbors, then returning the next day with sno cones to bring relief and smiles on a hot afternoon.

That’s the beauty of youth ministry at its best. It gives young people more than something to do. It gives them a way to live their faith, encounter people outside their comfort zones, and discover that loving God and loving others often happens in simple, practical acts of service.

Thank you, Joint Youth Ministry, for bringing energy, kindness, and compassion to our community.

☀️🎉 Summer kicked off in the sweetest way at Hope Gardens!

The amazing young people from Kindness is Free’s Kindness Summer Camp brought joy, laughter, and connection to our community. After learning from UCLA researcher Christine about how kindness can create positive change, the Teen Kindness Ambassadors put those lessons into action right away.

Our seniors enjoyed a lively game of Kindness Bingo, while residents throughout Hope Gardens cooled off with ice pops, lawn games, music, and plenty of smiles. 🍦🎶☀️
Moments like these remind us that kindness has the power to bring generations together and strengthen community. Thank you to the Kindness is Free team and all of the Teen Kindness Ambassadors for sharing your hearts and helping make the start of summer so memorable.
