Yesterday, I was happy to participate in the multi-million strong demonstration of support for the United States Constitution.
For me, it wasn't a protest against "Trump," as it's often been described.
It was a statement of understanding that the current administration is denying thousands the worldwide accepted practice of due process; denying Congress its constitutional right and obligation to control spending; abusing the Justice department to persecute political opponents (and free convicted criminals simply for being political allies); and using the public's airwaves to spread both self-serving and highly dangerous propaganda and misinformation.
Even the descriptions of the events (before they'd occurred) as being "anti-American," or "pro-Hamas" would have been cartoonishly, laughably ridiculous, if it weren't for the real threats behind them - since the administration has already stated its intentions to consider anyone expressing such inapplicable sentiments as "terrorists."
I read here everyday (and sometimes make the mistake of engaging with) people who say things like, "He's doing just what I voted for him to do."
Which is all well and good, as long as they'd then be willing to acknowledge that they voted for unconstitutional actions, anti-judicial assassinations in international waters, a corrupted Supreme Court, consequence-free criminality by political allies, and illegal impositions of religion and political compliance into both public and private education. To name just a few perversions of "America."
A few, to their credit (I suppose?), have responded, "Yeah, that's right."
What I'd most like to make clear is that those are the people who have attacked, and are fighting against, the Constitution and the interests of the United States of America - as they did on Jan. 6, 2021.
The people I walked with yesterday are its supporters, and its defenders.

The President of the United States belongs in jail.
That's not merely my opinion.
He's a convicted felon.
An adjudicated ra**st.
And a self-proclaimed enemy of the Constitution.

Can you imagine the freedom you might feel if you completely untethered yourself from caring about being hypocritical, being called hypocritical, or even unhinged?
I think this is an under investigated aspect of right wing hallucinogenic fervor ("biggest inauguration crowd ever!) & Trumpism.
It must feel great to have no responsibility to truth or reason (especially when everything you want to believe is wrong). Oh, and the news story describes millions more Americans getting cancer and respiratory diseases without using those words.
