Tangled Roots: The True Story of Humboldt County dropped on Vimeo April 22 from Outlaw Films, the production company of filmmaker Seth Ferranti, who is best known for creating the Netflix film White Boy. The series runs 44 minutes for the first episode and is available to purchase for $10.99.

Ferranti has described Humboldt as “America’s Cannabis Heartland” and “the Napa Valley of the w**d game.” The series puts faces and voices to that reputation, pulling interviews from the outlaw growers who built the Emerald Triangle’s culture over the past half century, people who kept the plant alive through raids, eradication campaigns, and decades of federal prohibition.
