I miss my hole. this took approximately two hours to arrive at a depth of which I could sit comfortably. sound arriving differently is the first thing i noticed. bending at the hip to hand-scoop another heap of sand muffles the sound of the waves. at a certain depth the obsolete bass rave sounds of the boardwalk met me. the space created a chapel of collision. and there i was, fifteen degrees cooler, with the cold mudded pacific pooling between my toes, knowing exactly why i had come there.
