In this conversation, our evening radio host and resident artist Lara Downes sits down with San Francisco Conservatory of Music students to explore what American music means to them. One student offers a thoughtful perspective: "Nobody is influenced by the exact same things you are, so the sound is always unique."

As America approaches its 250th anniversary, Lara's new album, “Hold These Truths,” is a deeply personal search for the true meaning of America through music, celebrating the voices, stories, and traditions that shape who we are.
