📚⭐ We are just ONE week away from our next Storytime Saturdays program!
Join us on Saturday, July 18 at 10:30 a.m. for a morning of stories, games, crafts, and exploration.
This month's theme is Symbols! We'll be reading America's Flag Story by Karen S. Robbins, illustrated by J. James. After the story, children will practice fine motor, expression, and organization skills by creating their own flags and playing a matching game. Then, we'll take a shortened tour of the Mansion to discover symbols hidden throughout the historic house.
🌦️ This program will be held rain or shine, so please dress for the weather.

✨ Day 1 of our behind-the-scenes recipe taste testing for the upcoming Garden Party! 🌸
Today we're highlighting Lacey and Rachel as they make Blackberry Cordial, a sweet, fruit-forward drink inspired by recipes enjoyed in the 18th century.
Unlike the cordials we often think of today, historic cordials were rich, syrup-like beverages made with fresh fruit, sugar, and spirits. They weren't just delicious—they were practical, too. The high sugar and alcohol content helped preserve the bright flavors of spring and summer long after the berries had gone out of season.
Stay tuned tomorrow for our final Blackberry Cordial tasting as we count down to our Garden Party on July 17—we can't wait to share the results with you!

The 4th of July may be over, but the PARTY is just beginning! Join us this Saturday at Gunston Hall for the next part of our Summer Saturdays program: Party for the Revolution!
This all day event will have our partners from George Washington's Mount Vernon and Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden joining us to talk all about what 1776 was like in Virginia. Plus, we’ll have games, activities, music, and sweet treats in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Grab a party hat (or make a tricorn with us) and stop by! The party will go from 10 am to 4 pm and is free with general admission to the museum. We’ll see you then!
