If there's one place in the country where UV Safety Month really applies, it's Myrtle Beach in July. You're outside all day. The sun is reflecting off the water and the sand - both of which can reflect up to 85% of UV rays back at your eyes. And you're probably wearing sunscreen everywhere except your eyes.

Sand and water are two of the most powerful UV reflectors there are, which is why eye conditions like cataracts and pterygium (a growth on the surface of the eye) are more common in coastal communities. This July, make UV-protective eyewear as non-negotiable as your SPF. 🕶️🌊

Eye injuries from fireworks are medical emergencies.

❌ Do NOT rub the eye
❌ Do NOT rinse or flush with water
❌ Do NOT apply pressure to the eye
❌ Do NOT remove any objects from the eye

✅ DO cover the eye gently with a shield or clean cup (not gauze or anything that could add pressure)
✅ DO get to an emergency room IMMEDIATELY

Time matters. Every second counts when it comes to preserving vision after an eye injury. 👁️❤️
