How to Get Stains Out of a Persian Rug...
Spot cleaning is crucial for Persian rugs. Deal with spills fast, and they won't set in as much. This makes them easier to remove fully.
The first thing to do is get rid of any leftover wetness or dirt. Use a paper towel to dab liquids or crumbs gently. Never rub the area, as this can make the stain spread.
Create a simple cleaning mix with water and a bit of detergent. Or, you can use vinegar mixed with water instead. Put your mix in a spray bottle or a bowl.
Always test your cleaning solution on a hidden part of the rug first. This test makes sure the solution won't harm the rug's color or material.
If the test goes well, go ahead and gently dab the stain with a cloth or sponge. Don't pour the mix directly onto the rug. That can damage the fibers or cause color to bleed.
When cleaning, start at the outside of the stain and work inward. This way, you won't spread the stain. Use gentle but firm pressure.
Rinse after cleaning with the mix, using clean water. Then, gently press a dry cloth over the area to soak up any remaining moisture.
If the stain still shows, repeat until it's gone. Remember, tough stains might need a pro's help to avoid making it worse.
Lastly, make sure the rug is completely dry before you put it back. Drying well also prevents mold from growing on the rug.

Persian rugs go back to the Achaemenid Empire, about 550 B.C. They started with simple mats made from bamboo and plant stalks. Soon, they became luxurious items for kings and palaces.
The Pazyryk carpet is an exciting find, from the 5th century BC. It was discovered in Siberia. This ancient carpet is the oldest known pile-woven one, showing amazing ancient skills.
