School’s Out (or Almost)… Summer in Placer County Is Starting 05/28/2026

School’s out… or almost ☀️

Around our house, one kid just wrapped up junior college and is headed to Chico State, another is graduating high school this weekend from Del Oro, and my youngest is finishing freshman year at Placer High.

And somehow, summer suddenly feels very real.

Over Memorial Day weekend, we had our first lake day at Folsom Lake, took the kayaks out, and the water was surprisingly warm already.

The hills are still green (for now), the evenings are stretching out, patios and BBQ season are starting up, and you can feel Placer County shifting into summer mode.

Interestingly, this time of year changes the way home buyers think too. Outdoor space, pools, patios, shade, and proximity to places like Folsom Lake suddenly matter a lot more.

I wrote a quick blog post about this “start of summer” feeling around Placer County—and how it subtly changes real estate too.

What Buyers Are Reacting to Right Now in the Placer County Housing Market (2026) 05/21/2026

👀🏡 What are buyers actually reacting to right now?

After showing homes, walking properties, and hosting a few open houses lately around Placer County, I’ve been noticing some pretty clear patterns.

A few things buyers seem to care about more than ever right now:

✅ Homes that feel move-in ready
💰 Monthly payment & overall value
🌳 Usable outdoor space (not necessarily giant yards)
🔍 Big-ticket items like roofs, HVAC, insurance, solar, and utility costs

One thing that stands out?

This market feels selective.

Well-prepared, well-priced homes are still getting strong attention…

…but buyers are paying closer attention and asking more thoughtful questions than they were a few years ago.

Not every home is getting multiple offers—and pricing and presentation matter.

I wrote a new blog post breaking down what I’m seeing buyers react to right now around Placer County.
