Gas Leak:

UPDATE 3:45PM
Atmos and CenterPoint gas companies have both responded and determined the leaking gas line belongs to CenterPoint. Crews will remain in the area throughout the afternoon, evening and possibly into the night. CenterPoint crews are enroute to the location to repair the leak. Please continue to avoid the area while CenterPoint works to mitigate the leak. Additionally, please adhere to all traffic laws pertaining to barricades, traffic cones and other traffic devices as Green St and Fredonia St are both blocked off from Cotton St. to South St. for safety.

Earlier First Baptist Church was evacuated due to a gas leak in the downtown area. Please avoid the area as crews are in the vicinity working to mitigate this leak. Currently, Green St. from South St. to Cotton St. is blocked off with the potential for other streets in the area to become closed off. Please stay tuned to local media outlets for further information.

Deployment news:

Yesterday, members of the Longview Fire Department’s Swift Water Rescue Team deployed to Central Texas at the request of the State.

With slow-moving storms threatening to drop a summer's worth of rain across the state this week, Governor Greg Abbott activated state emergency response resources. Our highly trained team is currently staging in Central Texas, ready to assist with potential flooding and swiftwater rescues as flash flood warnings remain in effect.

Please keep our first responders and the communities in the path of these severe storms in your thoughts!
