‼️FORMER SCHOOL EMPLOYEE SENTENCED — NO S*X OFFENDER REGISTRY‼️

A former Kilgore ISD instructional aide pleaded guilty to having an improper relationship with a student.

Kayla Nicole O’Dell, 34, received:
• 10 years deferred adjudication
• Up to 20 years in prison if she violates supervision
• Lifetime revocation of her teaching certification
• $1,000 in court fees

⚠️ She will NOT be required to register as a s*x offender.
Texas law exempts registry when the student is 17 or older and the employee has no prior criminal history.

O’Dell worked at Kilgore ISD from August 2023 until January 2025, when the district began investigating alleged misconduct. She was arrested the following month and pleaded guilty this week.

➡️ Deferred adjudication = not a conviction unless she violates it.

(Kilgore ISD says the district followed all required reporting protocols during the investigation.)

The Kilgore Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the pictured individual in reference to a theft incident followed by a hit and run incident that occurred at Walmart located at 1201 Stone St on 09/16/2025.
