A proper mulch install starts with the prep work: cleaning out the beds, defining the edges, and spreading mulch evenly at the right depth. Done right, mulch helps hold moisture, suppress weeds, and gives the whole area a clean finished look.

It also matters that mulch is not piled up against plant stems or tree trunks. The details matter, and they make a difference in both appearance and plant health.
