My stage 3 burnout run for the Colorado engine League finals.

Out of the three courses that we had for this finals this was the last one that I thought I would get first place in. Slow and steady won the race on this one.

I enjoyed the new format for finals this year. The speed course in a hybrid course determined your run order for the final burnout course. It was nice to be able to run three different courses for a competition.

The step pyramid was the first pyramid built. Started as one layer and then they got the idea to add more layers. When they got to the third layer they discovered that it was too heavy for the supports underneath it. They then started making it more narrow as it went up, making the pyramid shape, and placing blocks vertically for better strength.

We got to go inside where there is a very deep cavern that was believed to be used for water filtration and possibly assisting on lifting the higher blocks.

Other pharaohs and Kings that came later, learned from this pyramid to create a bent pyramid where the angle changed to more as it wen up.

We flew from Aswan to Abu Simbel to witness it's massive size and beauty. The complete Temple was cut into 1000 pieces and moved 65 meters up and 200 meters over to save it from Lake Nassar following the construction of the Aswan high dam.

The size is massive! The art inside was high quality with many colors still visible. Some unique gods were here compared to other temples.

We then flew up to Cairo. Since our flight wasn't until 1:30am, so we had time to go skiing at Ski Egypt

We safely made it back from Egypt today. I have as couple more days of the trip to post still so wanted all to know we are not close to the chaos our fearless leader has started.

We visited the Nubian Museum, road on a boat next elephantine Island to a Nubian community, saw some crocodiles, then checked into the old cataract hotel.

When when I'm visited the Philea Temple, which is one of the younger temples dating back to all my 100 BC. The inside of the Temple is aligned, but not with the outside of the Temple. The craftsmanship on this Temple showed how the interest in the Egyptian religion was waning.

We had some drinks in the Winston Churchill room before eating dinner in the amazingly tall ceiling restaurant.
