🚗✨ Safe Rides Protect the Vibes!
Have you noticed the new speed feedback signs popping up around Long Beach? 👀 These signs are being installed at Speed Safety System locations to remind drivers of their speed and encourage safer driving before the pilot program begins.
The Speed Safety System is a pilot program that will use automated speed safety devices to encourage drivers to slow down and help prevent serious and fatal crashes. 🪧 Installing these signs ahead of activation gives drivers advance notice and an opportunity to adjust their speed.
🚦 Our goal is simple: encourage safer driving, reduce serious crashes, and help make Long Beach streets safer for everyone.

🌈 The City of Long Beach is advancing the vision for the future LGBTQ+ Cultural District.
The City is preparing to implement the first phase of the LGBTQ+ Cultural District Strategic Improvement Plan along the Broadway corridor, between Alamitos and Temple Avenues, creating a destination that celebrates the history, culture and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community.
Phase 1 improvements include:
✨ Color-changing festoon lighting
🏳️🌈 A Pride Plaza at Broadway and Junipero
🎨 Public art and murals
🏳️ Pole wraps and banners
Future enhancements will be based on recommendations from the strategic improvement plan:

🌈 Decorative crosswalks
🎭 Utility box art

As a part of National Public Works Week, the Department of Public Works hosts PW employees for our annual Touch-A-Truck event where they can celebrate with their families and enjoy an afternoon of games, activities, food, and hands-on fun.
