18-year-old Kameirah Johnson, a high school senior from Washington, won Google’s 2026 Doodle for Google contest with her artwork, “Hair Power: The Crown That Grows From Us.”

Inspired by her own family, the piece highlights Black hair as a symbol of identity, creativity, resilience, and heritage. Her winning design was selected from tens of thousands of entries nationwide and earned her a $55,000 college scholarship.

Now her message is front and center on Google’s homepage—a powerful reminder that the very things that make us different can also be our greatest strength.
