Yankee Brass Band – Live at Benson Park! 🎺

Bring a chair and enjoy an evening of living history! 🎶

Since 1987, the Yankee Brass Band has brought 19th century American brass band music to life using rare, authentic period instruments - recreating the sound of the "Golden Age of Bands." Members travel from across the country each summer to volunteer their talents for a week of live performances celebrating this unique musical tradition.

Closed & Treated
Areas of Robinson Pond were chemically treated on Tuesday, July 7, to control the growth of non-native aquatic vegetation. As a result the town closed the use of the pond. Two areas of the pond were treated with a herbicide, one near the public boat launch and beach; and the other was in the southern portion of the pond. Photo by Chris Paul

Purchase of Protective Gear From Target Funds Approved

The Hudson Board of Selectmen approved two Fire Department requests during its most recent meeting, including the purchase of new particulate hoods funded through the Hudson Logistics Center Public Safety allocation and an authorization related to the regional hazardous materials district.
Fire Chief Scott Tice presented a proposal to use a portion of the Hudson Logistics Center Public Safety Money to purchase 52 particulate hoods, specialized protective gear designed to shield firefighters from soot, smoke residue, and other airborne contaminants encountered during fire suppression.

Renewed Restoration Efforts Begin on Benson Park Lion’s Pride Statues

The Benson Park Advisory Committee met on June 18 with encouraging news about the long running effort to restore the park’s historic Lion’s Pride statues. After years of slow progress, the project has gained new momentum thanks to fresh volunteer involvement and a recent $200 donation earmarked for repair work.
Committee Chair Sue Clement said volunteers have already begun hands-on restoration. “We are working on the Lions currently, we have some good volunteers who have started,” she said. “First up is going to be cleaning it. They’re also looking into rebuilding one of the statue’s poor tail, because the tail is no longer there. I’ve been sending pictures that I have, though I only have one or two, that show how long the tail was.”
